Something that wasn't addressed in this video: even supposing that the "34%" statistic _is_ accurate, with the growth of the population over the same period I believe that numerically the households with firearms is actually higher than the 1973 statistic. ..
In Illinois we are required to have a Firearm Owners ID (FOID) in order to posses a firearm or purchase ammunition. In the past 2 years the number of applications for NEW cards has hit records every month. This indicates more NEW gun owners, not existing firearm owners buying additional weapons.
