Buying a firearm and some cool accessories doesn’t mean you will be prepared to successfully defend yourself and your family from threat. As with most things in life, if you want to be good at it, you have to train. The more realistic your training is, the more likely you are to be successful.

Problem is that the vast majority of people have no clue what it means to be in a fight or what a fight even really entails. They have zero reference points to accurately employ your suggestion. Not saying you're wrong, just pointing out the bane of existence for most defensive instructors. I'm a big believer in painting a new reality for my students before we do anything else. I've had awesome results as a consequence. The first thing students need to learn is not how to punch or how to employ firearms safety, its what violence really is, who does it, why they do it, where they do it, and how it can be avoided to circumvented. IMO… 🙂
