Springfield Armory has issued a voluntary safety recall of their popular XD-S in both 9mm and .45 ACP. This recall was issued on August 28, 2013, to resolve two rare but potentially dangerous situations; the gun firing when loading a cartridge, or double-firing when the trigger is pulled once.
